Taylor Swift confirms Reputation will be released in February

Expect to see T-Swift – as in Taylor Swift – strutting her stuff as a Grammy-winning human trumpeter in the coming days.

Swift told fans in a YouTube live stream on Thursday that her ninth studio album, Reputation, will be released on 7 February, then revealed that a video is in the works: “Tonight is like a teaser.”

If not a preview, then it will be, as thousands of fans bombarded YouTube with requests for the video, and the clip seems to be hidden in plain sight on Swift’s Instagram. Swift confirmed the project was not a concert video and that the single, Look What You Made Me Do, is “definitely not in the video”.

Promotional tracks from Reputation have been leaking online, and one leaked song, End Game, features Kendrick Lamar and has been going down a storm online.

Swift’s live stream was also a chance for the musician to respond to longstanding rumours that her fame has depleted her appeal to younger fans.

She showed backstage footage of young fans approaching her to meet her. “To a lot of those kids, it’s about something bigger than being a fan,” she said. “It’s about having so much confidence in someone that you believe in so strongly that you’re willing to do something risky like make an appointment to come see them in person and spend an hour and a half with them.”
